April 17-22nd is National Volunteer Week, and as a community-powered agency, our work would not be possible without the thousands of donated hours from our amazing volunteer network. We're so grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who donate their time and talents to power our service. This past year, 905 volunteers chose to serve with us, filling roles like Food Rescue Drivers, Food Sorters & Shelf Stockers, Bicycle Repair experts, and Community Kitchen cooks, ultimately logging 42,404 hours of volunteer service.
Join us in celebrating our hardworking, dedicated volunteers! We are so grateful for each and every one of our volunteers!
What our volunteers say about volunteering at CAH
Standout stories from our volunteers
"One day I was working the checkout at Food Club and a woman approached the register and she was so excited! She laid three heads of cauliflower on the counter and told me how cauliflower is her kid's favorite snack. At Food Club, she has access to healthy food options for her family, options she told me she wouldn't be able to afford at a traditional grocery store. I was so happy to hear that we are really making such a difference, and now every time I see her getting cauliflower here at Food Club, I know she's making her family's day!"

“Volunteering at Food Club gives me the opportunity to connect with our neighbors on a deep level. One of my favorite things to do is practice my Spanish speaking skills! Food club is such a welcoming environment, I don’t have to worry about messing up because guests help correct me and each time I see one of our guests that has helped me, I try a little extra to get my Spanish right so they know I care.”

“I’ve been volunteering at CAH for almost 11 years now, so I’ve been here since CAH was located on 14th Street. There was a man I always used to see there and chat with, but since moving to Food Club I haven’t seen him. But recently he came into Food Club and he recognized me! We chatted just like old times and he asked what days I volunteer here. I told him, and now he comes specifically when I’m volunteering so we have the opportunity to catch up! That just shows how powerful building strong relationships with our guests can be.”
