Celebrating Black History Month with I Am Academy

Join us for our Resale Takeover Event on Saturday, February 25th!

Last week Black History Month began. A time to honor the achievements of so many Black leaders, creatives, and professionals.

Like so many of you, we’ve witnessed traumatic events across the country that continue to challenge us to reexamine our work and take bolder steps to build a more just, inclusive community. It’s been said that Black History Month is a time to “reflect on the shared experience of all Black Americans, whose lives have shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America.” As we reflect, we also can use this time as an opportunity to recommit to a vision of a world without division or deprivation. For our part, we know our role begins with our values, and our commitment to welcoming, serving, and empowering all who call on us. To creating special places of belonging in our community, for those who need it most.

As has been our practice these last several years, we’re highlighting a key partner institution as a part of this month of celebration and awareness. This month, we will be donating 100% of the Resale Store’s proceeds on Saturday, February 25 to I Am Academy - a local program working to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline within educational institutions.

Founded by Henry and Lindsay Cherry, I Am Academy plays a critical role in empowering African American adolescents to achieve their full potential using a mentorship model to connect students with community partners. Mentors help to support each student’s educational success, provide college experiences, facilitate job readiness, and provide other forms of support.

We are proud to partner with I Am Academy this month, and work to create a better future forward, together.
