Donation Guidelines
Help us reduce costs by reading what we can and cannot accept below!
Your donations are vital to Community Action House and our continued success. To further help us, please review the lists below of items we can and cannot accept.
Donating unsellable items increases our trash removal and overhead costs - taking away funds that could otherwise be used for our housing and food security programs. Your continued support, along with cooperation with these guidelines, will enable Community Action House’s programming to be even more effective in the future.
General Guidelines
Donated items will be sold in our store, given away to those in need, or recycled.
Upholstered furniture and rugs must be free of obvious stains, holes, tears, threadbare areas, and/or odors. Broken furniture cannot be recycled.
Large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, and dryers must be in good working condition.
Electronics must be working with no missing parts.
Computers more than 5 years old cannot be resold.

Books, Records, CDs, DVDs
Bikes and Bike Parts
Electronics and Stereo Equipment
Appliances (Large and Small)
Sporting Goods
Computers (less than 5 years old)
Unacceptable Donations
The following items may not be accepted due to liability issues or due to high disposal costs:
Furniture:
Desks over 2’x3’
Entertainment centers
Mattresses & bean bag chairs
Trunks or chests that lock or latch automatically when closed
Electrical components that are not working, missing parts, or have frayed, damaged or missing power cords
Metal filing cabinets
Baby Furniture/Items:
The following items may not be accepted due to liability issues or due to high disposal costs:
Drop-side cribs and cribs manufactured before June 2011, unless vintage
Used car seats/booster seats/Strollers /Highchairs ( Due to safety standards set by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission)
Any baby item has been repaired, damaged, unstable, or is missing pieces
Attachment or restraint belts that are worn, frayed, or do not latch properly
Miscellaneous:
Bike Helmets
Opened health and beauty products
Opened household chemicals including, but not limited to paint, cleaners, caulk, etc.
VHS tapes
CRT TVs and monitors
Non-electric pianos and organs
Tires and car parts
Combustible materials
